ICE SKATING
Cambridge Ice Arena, Cambridge, England
October 2022

In October 2022, I rediscovered my love for ice skating at the Cambridge Ice Arena, balancing it with my academic pursuits at the University of Cambridge. My journey with the sport began when I was eleven years old, during a winter season of lessons. However, due to the absence of a nearby ice rink, I had to step away from skating for several years.
Upon returning to the ice, it took merely a month before I purchased my first pair of figure skates, marking a significant moment in my journey. This decision was not simply a return to a childhood hobby, but a deepened commitment to an activity that I had always loved but had to set aside for many years.
Since then, I have attended early morning group lessons, striving to refine my technique and improve my performance. Despite enduring numerous falls, some rather brutal, my dedication to the sport remains steadfast. Each setback has served not as a deterrent, but as a testament to the resilience that skating requires, and it has only strengthened my admiration for the discipline.
Ice skating has become a profound source of solace for me, offering a sense of freedom and tranquillity that I once found in ballet. It is a space where I can disconnect, focus, and find joy, even in the face of the inevitable tumbles.
